ENGLISH FOR SPEAKERS OF OTHER LANGUAGES (K-12) TEACHER*

This is a professional position responsible for the instruction of one or more subjects to K-12 school students.

Job tasks/responsibilities include:

• Instructing students using various teaching methods
• Preparing course objectives and outlines for the course of study following curriculum guidelines
• Assigning lessons, assessing student progress including homework assignments, and hearing presentations
• Preparing and administering tests to evaluate pupil progress, recording results, issuing reports to inform parents of progress, and assigning final grades
• Maintaining attendance and grade records as required by school
• Counseling pupils when adjustment and academic problems arise
• Maintaining discipline in the classroom
• Meeting with parents to discuss pupils' academic, social, and behavioral progress
• Participating in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and inservice classes
• Performing related work as required or as assigned by the supervising administrator or his/her designee

Physical requirements include mobility, reaching, sitting, finger dexterity, lifting, grasping, repetitive motions, talking, hearing, and visual acuity.

Minimum qualification requirements are as specified in the State Statutes.

Starting teacher salary is $53,159.00, which includes a 6% Referendum Retirement Accruing Supplement of $3,009. New hires may be eligible to receive credit for verified years of experience, which can enhance their starting salary.
