ABOUT THE FROST ART MUSEUM

The Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum is FIU’s premier on-campus museum and one of the largest academic art museums in South Florida. Since opening in 2008, the museum has provided free access to art spanning cultures and time periods while serving FIU students, faculty, families, schools, and the greater Miami community through exhibitions, collections, internships, and educational programming. JOB SUMMARY

Provides dynamic leadership and assumes responsibility for the full range of the museum’s educational programs and strategies. Collaborates across departments to plan and implement educational initiatives that reflect the highest standards of intellectual rigor and stewardship. Leads and strengthens engagement with FIU faculty and students.

Works collaboratively across museum departments to develop, plan, and implement educational programs for all audiences.

Directs and supports the Education department’s efforts in the development of interpretive programs and materials for all of the museum’s publics; the positioning of the Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum’s exclusive education programs; and the consideration, expansion, and implementation of new models for museum learning.

Manages all organizational aspects of a limited number of programs, including logistics, travel, payment, attendee registration, and the development of related collateral and press materials.

Oversees and manages the development and realization of innovative and ambitious programs, partnerships, and alliances to encourage and grow collaboration with students and faculty and increase utilization of the Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum collections in the academic programs of the University.

Participates in the exhibition development process, working closely with curatorial and design teams to develop interpretive and educational materials.

Develops and oversees budgets for programs. Negotiates contracts with outside contractors as needed for programs. Identifies and participates in grant proposal development and reporting.

Serves as a University card user for departmental transactions. Adheres to University credit card policies and procedures.

Leads and manages the evolving student and academic engagement program designed to increase student participation in programming and learning experiences, as well as faculty utilization of the Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum. Oversees student interns and volunteers.

Collaborates with the Director, Curator, and Development team to plan and coordinate educational programs, tours, and special events, ensuring programming aligns with the museum’s mission, exhibitions, institutional priorities, and audience engagement goals.

Oversees and coordinates teaching artists, presenters, and contracted vendors engaged throughout the year to support museum programming. Manages scheduling, communication, required documentation, contracting and payment coordination, and program logistics, serving as the primary point of contact from initial engagement through completion.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s degree in an appropriate specialization and two years of experience; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate specialization and four years of experience.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

State of Florida Professional Educator’s Certification.
