We seek a dedicated, resourceful, and experienced English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) teacher to join our team on a contractual basis. The temporary ESOL teacher will provide two weekly classes at 90‑minute sessions for 24 weeks. The class will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays or Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:30‑6:00 PM at our main office in Homestead, FL. The ESOL teacher will be responsible for providing effective language instruction to individuals with varying English proficiency levels to equip them with the skills necessary to communicate effectively in the workplace.
The teacher must be comfortable with autonomy regarding the curriculum and resources used to provide instruction.
- Promote a safe workplace. Provide instruction and resources needed to conduct daily tasks safely.
- Plan and deliver engaging and interactive ESOL lessons to a group of diverse adult learners.
- Assess students’ language skills and customize lesson plans to meet individual needs.
- Create a supportive, inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and cultural exchange.
- Utilize various teaching methods, resources, and technology to enhance professional language and communication skills, including listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing constructive feedback to promote continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with the Learning & Organizational Development Team on best practices and program development.
- Stay informed about current language teaching methodologies and incorporate relevant techniques into lessons.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and other relevant information.
- Collaborate with the Learning & Organizational Team and People Business Partners to identify learning objectives and instructional strategies most suitable for the students.
- Document and communicate employee-related issues (attendance, performance, or behavioral)
- Develop and maintain positive team member relations centered on mutual trust, dignity, respect, fairness, consistency, two‑way communication, teamwork, and harmony through servant leadership.
- Initiate, coordinate, and participate in interdepartmental problem‑solving and communication.
- Bachelor’s degree in TESOL, ESL, Education, Adult Education, or a related field.
- Teaching certification or relevant credentials for adult education preferred.
- Previous experience in teaching ESOL to diverse groups of adult learners.
- Strong understanding of language acquisition principles and cultural sensitivity.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Flexibility in adapting teaching methods to accommodate various learning styles.
- Passion for working with individuals from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
- Familiarity with language assessment tools and proficiency in using educational technology.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to effectively deliver in person instruction, engage with students, and navigate the classroom environment as needed during class sessions (90-120 minutes per session, 2x week)
