Assists the Cuban Research Institute (CRI) with the Steven J. Green School of International and Public Affairs (Green School) in its extensive program of public activities, including lectures, seminars, conferences, concerts, book presentations, and film screenings, designed to engage a wide audience of students, faculty members, and other members of the South Florida community. Coordinates and uses independent judgment to perform complex duties in support of CRI's academic mission.
May supervise and evaluate, as needed, the work of others.
- Provides support to the Cuban Research Institute (CRI) Director, including the execution of administrative objectives and priorities, and recommends procedures when necessary.
- Represents program leadership at meetings and disseminates information as needed.
- Communicates and builds relationships effectively in Spanish and English with faculty, administrators, students, vendors, visitors, and members of the community.
- Provides support for the maintenance of financial and budgetary records, including expenditures and revenues.
- Oversees the promotion of all events, including preparing announcement flyers and maintaining the Cuban Research Institute (CRI) website and social media.
- Responsible for liaison activities among functional areas and other departments.
- Assists in recruiting and collaborating with students interested in Cuban and Cuban-American affairs, including student organizations.
- Coordinates communication and marketing strategies to promote the program across various digital platforms in collaboration with the Steven J. Green School of International and Public Affairs (Green School) Marketing and Communication Team.
- Supervises support staff such as OPS and College Work-Study employees and volunteers. Established goals, professional development opportunities, and evaluates performance as required.
- Initiate payment card processing and/or access to sensitive payment card data, handling of cash/checks/cash equivalents, gift cards/participant payments, or purchasing with university issued credit card.
- Interprets university and college administrative and fiscal policies and procedures. Interprets and provides recommendations on procedures for the unit to improve administrative and fiscal operations for the programs and office site.
- Participates in HR related trainings as needed to maintain competencies in system applications, policies, and procedures. Cross-trains procedures with department employees to ensure smooth operation of business processes.
- Assists in the coordination of all events such as symposia, lecture series, conferences, concerts, book presentations, and film screenings, including but not limited to the reservation of space and coordination of audio-visual services and catering.
Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of office or related experience.
