Purpose

Statement

The role of the Preschool Teacher Assistant is vital in furthering the mission of Calvary Christian Academy and is responsible for the care and supervision of children ages 2 years to 4years of age. As a preschool assistant, the individual will follow the lead of the teacher and fulfill all the tasks, to which they are assigned. These could be clerical tasks, supervision tasks and class coverage tasks as needed.

Your passion and your efforts assist in fostering Christian spiritual growth in the students and will directly impact Calvary Christian Academy to achieve its religious mission to “make disciples” for Christ.

Scope

The preschool assistant is directly responsible for working with other assistants to ensure that all physical, social, and emotional needs of children are maintained throughout the day at the center. The TA is responsible for the care and supervision of all children in each assigned classroom in the program.

Specific Responsibilities
  • Set up/break down classroom furniture to prepare for church services
  • Co-labor with other PreK assistants for the purpose of creating a nurturing spiritual, academic, and socially stimulating environment that furthers the mission of Calvary Christian Academy
  • Supervise and support children’s physical needs with assistance as needed
  • Provide assistance with snacks and lunches
  • Provide assistance and supervision for napping
  • Provide assistance with daily diapering or bathroom needs
  • Prepare daily reports for the parents of each child in the assigned classroom
  • Assist with behavior management of children in the classroom
  • Provide oral reports as per parent request
  • Provide required documentation of significant incidents or accidents
  • Ensure the safety and security of each child in the assigned classroom
  • Escort and monitor children when traveling to and from playgrounds
  • Follow cleaning procedures as designated by the Health Department of Miami Dade County

  • Must be physically able to run after toddlers, carry squirming toddlers, or crawl/play on the floor with toddlers
  • Physical agility (able to bend, run, lift cots, and move classroom furniture)
  • Must be able to clean tables and floors and be able to tolerate disinfectants
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
Education Requirements
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or its equivalent (Required).
  • Valid work authorization (Required).
  • One year of experience in Early Childhood Education or childcare settings (Preferred).
  • Current certification in CPR and First Aid (Required)).
  • Possession of a Florida Staff Credential or National CDA (Preferred).
  • Completion of the mandatory 45-Hour Childcare Certification (Required).
  • Academic background specifically focused on early childhood development (Preferred).
  • Consent to undergo a physical examination prior to classroom engagement.
  • Agreement to fulfill 10 annual in-service hours in early childhood as mandated.
  • Agreement to clear the mandatory DCF background screening via Miami-Dade Licensing and Enforcement before starting
Work Schedule

Monday-Friday 7:30 a.m.

-4:00 p.m.

Full time (40 hours/week); however, may be required to work an evening or weekend day to attend a CCA event, or assist with a special project or in a circumstantial emergency affecting the church facilities.
