Classroom Assistant
The Office of Graduate Studies is seeking a part-time Classroom Assistant to work on-site in Miami.
The Classroom Assistant assists in teaching a diverse population of children in an atmosphere of kindness that encourages active inquiry, fosters individual growth, and promotes respect for self and others. Additionally, the Classroom Assistant completes assigned responsibilities for instruction, planning, organization, activity implementation, evaluation, child care, and record maintenance.
Core
Job Functions:
- Presents subject matter to students under the direction and guidance of teachers, using lectures, discussions, and supervised role-playing methods.
- Assists in the implementation of individual education programs for students and helps monitor their progress.
- Supports students with emotional or behavioral problems and helps them develop social skills.
- Supports teachers in photocopying and maintaining student records.
- Works with the teacher in planning and implementing a program of instruction that adheres to the school's philosophy, goals, and objectives.
- Works with the teacher in making purposeful and appropriate lesson plans that provide for effective teaching strategies and maximize time on task.
- Assists teachers in creating a classroom environment conducive to learning by employing a variety of appropriate teaching strategies.
- Shares responsibility during the school day for the supervision of students in all areas of the school.
- Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

- Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent/relevant experience, certification or license - Experience:
No previous experience required - Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment. - Technical Proficiency:
Skilled in using office software, technology, and relevant computer applications. - Communication:
Strong and clear written and verbal communication skills for interacting with colleagues and stakeholders.
