Job Description & How to Apply Below

We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Assistant Superintendent to provide strategic leadership across educational programmes, school operations, and district-wide initiatives. Working closely with school leaders, educators, families, and community partners, you will support the delivery of high-quality learning experiences and help ensure that every student has the opportunity to succeed. This is a senior leadership role requiring sound judgement, strong communication, and a commitment to equity, inclusion, and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities include supporting the development and implementation of strategic plans, monitoring academic performance and improvement priorities, and providing guidance to principals and school leadership teams. You will help oversee curriculum, teaching and learning, assessment, student support services, and compliance with relevant legislation and policies. The role will also involve analysing data to identify trends and opportunities, coordinating professional learning, contributing to budget and resource planning, and supporting the effective management of staffing, facilities, safeguarding, and operational risks.

You will represent the education service at meetings and events, prepare reports and recommendations for senior stakeholders, and build productive relationships with internal and external partners.

Applicants should have substantial experience in educational leadership, preferably across multiple schools or a comparable large-scale setting, together with a relevant postgraduate qualification and appropriate professional registration. You will bring a strong understanding of curriculum development, school improvement, performance evaluation, and student wellbeing, as well as experience leading change in complex environments. Excellent organisational, analytical, written, and interpersonal skills are essential.

The successful candidate will be collaborative, resilient, and able to balance strategic priorities with day-to-day demands while maintaining high standards of professionalism and integrity. A commitment to inclusive practice, evidence-informed decision-making, and positive outcomes for students is required.
