We are seeking a senior Design Engineer to support the Cryogenic Testing Laboratory (CTL) at Kennedy Space Center. This role will provide design, analysis, and technical support for cryogenic pressure systems and test operations, working across multidisciplinary teams to support ground systems, test hardware, and laboratory infrastructure.

The ideal candidate brings hands‑on experience with cryogenic systems, pressure vessel design and documentation, and engineering analysis, and enjoys working as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team. This individual is comfortable engaging with engineers, technicians, safety, and operations personnel, and is able to independently address complex technical issues with minimal oversight.

Required Qualifications / Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related scientific discipline (Mechanical, Chemical, Aerospace, Materials, or similar)
  • Minimum 7 years of related engineering experience
  • 4-5 years of design engineering experience
  • 3-4 years of cryogenic systems experience
  • Experience with 3D CAD design and CREO
  • Experience performing relief valve sizing and pressure relief calculations
  • Experience preparing and supporting Pressure Vessel System (PVS) packages
  • Strong working knowledge of engineering codes, standards, and safety requirements applicable to pressure and cryogenic systems
  • Ability to work independently and resolve complex engineering challenges with minimal supervision
Desired Qualifications / Skills
  • Familiarity with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, NASA pressure system requirements, and relevant industry standards
  • Experience with fluid systems analysis, thermal analysis, or structural analysis related to pressure systems
  • Knowledge of cryogenic hazards, safety controls, and operational constraints
  • Experience working in test laboratories or ground support environments
  • Proficiency with engineering tools such as CAD software, analysis tools, and technical documentation systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly document technical work
  • Experience supporting government or aerospace programs is a plus
Responsibilities
  • Perform engineering design, analysis, and documentation in support of cryogenic test systems and laboratory infrastructure
  • Develop and review pressure vessel and pressure system documentation, including PVS packages, calculations, and supporting analyses
  • Conduct relief valve sizing and pressure relief analyses for cryogenic and non-cryogenic systems
  • Support cryogenic fluid systems, including liquid nitrogen, liquid oxygen, liquid hydrogen, and associated transfer, storage, and test hardware
  • Collaborate with safety, quality, test operations, and systems engineering teams to ensure compliance with applicable standards and requirements
  • Support test planning, execution, anomaly resolution, and post-test assessments
  • Review drawings, specifications, procedures, and technical reports for accuracy and completeness
  • Provide engineering support during hardware installation, modification, and troubleshooting activities
