Maximize plant production and optimization of KPIs while guaranteeing all products are manufactured within environmental and quality specifications. The Process Engineer is responsible for the process engineering side of the business/operations, including analysis, study, process troubleshooting and process optimization.

• Work following the Mission, Vision and Values of CEMEX, lead by example.
• Initiate, develop and implement plant improvement projects.
  • Eliminate equipment restrictions.
  • Implement projects/upgrades to improve KPI performance.
  • Commission equipment.
• Provide expertise and technical knowledge to plant personnel.
  • Identify training requirements and execute training programs to reach standard level.
  • Identify gaps on performance versus standards on equipment and personnel, creating actions.
  • Create instructions, procedures, and standards, and assure compliance.
  • Root cause analysis and troubleshooting.
• Ensure performance and efficiency of equipment at or above rated operational capacities, minimize operational cost.
  • Perform mass and heat balances.
  • Perform hydraulic calculations in industrial fans, ductwork, and gas handling.
  • Perform equipment diagnostics.
  • Validate plant instrumentation by a routine testing program.
  • PID optimization.
  • Specific heat consumption & specific power consumption optimization.
• Alternative fuel and fuel performance up to strategy.
  • Follow up and improve performance of grinding media and refractory performance.
  • Environmental reagent optimization while always complying with environmental limits.
• Take decisions and accountability to reach objectives.
  • Daily performance follow-up.
• Data log.
  • Previous conclusions.
  • Action follow up.
  • Process flow charts and equipment information upkeep.
  • PI/Seeq Champions and Power Users.
• Action follow-up of all previously described activities.

• Adhere and ensure all CEMEX, MSHA, O.S.H.A., and other safety rules and regulations at all times. Wear proper safety equipment while on plant grounds.
• Assure all plant personnel (direct and indirect reports) work in a safe environment, guarantee all required tools are available to perform a safe task and ensure risk assessments are conducted and followed up on safety hazard identifications and procedures.
• Ensure people have the skills and training needed to perform in a safe and productive manner, be able to train personnel to assure compliance.
• Assures area assigned is up to safety standards, all deviations are identified and corrected.
• Participate on safety committees, risk assessment, training, standard work, assist in developing safety programs, monitor plant operations to assist in ensuring safe job performance.
• Participate in near miss and accident investigations.

• Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Engineering or related major.
• 5 years progressive experience within the heavy industrial manufacturing industry.
• Previous cement process experience is a plus.
• Previous continuous process, bulk-material handling operation experience may also be considered beneficial.
• Basic understanding of raw geologic materials, their chemical composition, and familiarity with crushing, grinding, blending, kiln processing, cooling, and conveyance of those materials.
• 2-5 years progressive experience in cement.
• Availability at all times to work and resolve issues in the assigned area.

• Cement experience and knowledge in quality, operation and maintenance.

• Result oriented, identifies issues and drives the decision process through an analytic mind, coordinate and work on different activities simultaneously.

• Continuous exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, extreme noise, and working outdoors.
• Must wear protective equipment while at the location.

• Must be able to perform all job functions including walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, turning, climbing, and operating controls.
• Heavy work:
  Exertion up to 100 pounds occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, 20 pounds constantly to move objects.
• Must be capable of working at heights and confined spaces.
• Must pass DOT physical, including back X-ray, hearing test, and drug/alcohol screen.
