The Engineer is responsible for the evaluation, design, and approval of repairs for aircraft components, including nacelles, thrust reversers, flight control surfaces, and radomes. This position plays a key role in developing FAA-approved 8110 repairs. The Engineer will generate data and perform analysis, collaborating with other engineers, the Quality Control department, and production teams to ensure compliance and airworthiness.
Key Responsibilities include:
* Evaluate damaged aircraft components and determine repair feasibility
* Develop repair solutions, including drawings, instructions, and reports
* Perform analysis to substantiate repairs
* Generate and compile data for FAA approval
* Interpret OEM manuals, engineering drawings, and certification requirements
* Lead root cause analysis and failure investigations
* Ensure all repairs comply with company procedures and FAA regulations
* Support improvement and develop new repair procedures
Skills /
Education and Experience
* Bachelor's Degree or higher in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
* Must be able to read, speak, and write in English
* Knowledge on FAA regulations and processes preferred
* Experience working with OEM manuals preferred
* Experience with CAD software
* Understanding of materials, stress analysis, and repair design principles
* Knowledge of composite repair methods preferred
* Must have strong problem solving and communication skills
* Must be able to manage different projects at a time and meet deadlines
Physical Demands
* Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
* Must be able to lift up to 30lbs
* Capability to work in a shop environment with moderate noise levels and exposure to mechanical equipment
