Compensation Range: $170,000 – $200,000 annually
Just Construction is seeking an experienced Virtual Design and Construction Manager to lead and manage VDC processes across a leading General Contractor in South Florida. This role will provide leadership for VDC Engineers and Specialists, support project teams with BIM/VDC execution, and serve as a key liaison between operations, preconstruction, IT, office staff, project staff, and business units.
The VDC Manager will be responsible for developing company wide VDC standards, supporting project-specific BIM execution plans, managing coordination workflows, and helping project teams leverage technology to improve collaboration, efficiency, and project outcomes.
General Responsibilities- Develop, manage, and continuously improve the company wide VDC process.
- Prepare project-specific BIM execution plans as needed.
- Assist project teams with preconstruction services and establish VDC procedures and techniques to support timely modeling, shop drawing approval, and BIM execution.
- Support the implementation and execution of BIM Project Execution Plans across assigned projects.
- Partner with IT, operations, and VDC staff to support, maintain, and develop VDC standards, 3D software tools, and related emerging technologies.
- Review contract conditions and ensure compliance with contract terms related to VDC requirements.
- Support business development efforts for critical RFQ/RFP preparations and presentations.
- Research, evaluate, and provide recommendations on current and emerging technologies that could be implemented within the company.
- Complete additional responsibilities as assigned.
- Supervise and direct assigned VDC department staff and related team members.
- Plan and review department activities, assign and coordinate staffing requirements, and resolve problem areas.
- Train, mentor, and support VDC Engineers, Specialists, and project team members.
- Participate in interviewing applicants and onboarding new hires.
- Conduct performance reviews in alignment with company career development practices.
- Manage and resolve performance concerns, disputes, and matters requiring corrective or disciplinary action.
- Develop training materials and conduct VDC training for employees, including software, procedures, standards, and best practices.
- Estimate and establish VDC modeling budgets and schedules for assigned projects.
- Assist project teams in determining required subcontractor participation in BIM/VDC processes.
- Function as the Model Administrator for assigned projects.
- Establish and modify project-specific VDC guidelines prior to bid, preconstruction, and project execution.
- Assist project teams with reviewing and approving subcontractor adherence to VDC guidelines.
- Monitor model submittal schedules, updates, and coordination requirements.
- Support updates to project models to reflect as-built conditions for record set submissions and project closeout.
- Lead clash detection and support RFI resolution with project teams during preconstruction and construction phases.
- Organize and lead VDC coordination meetings with VDC staff, project users, subcontractors, and trade partners.
- Support project teams with model coordination, constructability reviews, sequencing, logistics planning, and digital project delivery.
- Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, completion of a Construction Management Certificate Program, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 5–8 years of project experience
, including supervisory experience. - Prior experience as a Project Engineer, Project Manager, VDC/BIM Manager, or equivalent preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of and direct support experience with required software, including AutoCAD, Navisworks, Revit, Archicad
, and related BIM/VDC platforms. - Experience supporting and managing BIM and VDC production operations.
- Ability to manage interoffice collaboration on BIM/VDC platforms in partnership with IT staff, office staff, and project staff.
- Strong leadership ability and experience supervising teams or staff.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and a demonstrated sense of urgency.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and coordination skills.
- Thorough understanding of project management control systems, including scheduling, cost control, procurement, and estimating.
The ideal candidate is a hands‑on VDC leader with strong construction project experience, advanced technical knowledge, and the ability to support both office and field teams. This person should be comfortable leading BIM/VDC standards, managing coordination workflows, supporting preconstruction and operations, training staff, and helping drive technology adoption across the company.
