Nature of work
This is a technical position performing skilled drafting work in preparation of planning/construction and right-of-way plans and maps; inspection of a variety of public works and private construction; inspection of utility installations; enforcement of various city, county and state codes. Assignments are received as oral and written instructions, sketches, point files, or field notes, and are performed with a moderate degree of independence under general supervision.
Work performed is not subject to continuous review but is spot checked; or checked through review of field notes, oral and written reports and completed work. The incumbent in this position reports directly to a section supervisor or designee.
Essential functions
Under the direction of staff engineers and architects:
Drafts construction plans using autocad (computer drafting software) and autodesk revit (building information modeling [bim] software) for architects, engineers, and construction professionals of a variety of facilities, including but not limited to: public safety buildings, recreation centers, parks, and similar structures, as well as building additions, exterior and interior alterations, repairs to existing structures and infrastructure improvements including stormwater, highways, and bridges.
Uses gis arc view software to organize and present information about the status of various city of miami capital projects.
Teaches and assists architects and engineers in the use of autocad and autodesk revit.
Develops 3d renderings for roadway & architectural projects using autodesk revit (building information modeling [bim]).
Develops and implements office of capital improvements cad standards under the direction of city architects.
Uses microsoft office to create tabulations and spreadsheets as requested by city architect.
Creates moderately complex power point documents.
Performs any other related duties.
Minimum requirements
A minimum of 60 college credits and three (3) years experience in auto cad drafting.
Or
An equivalent combination of education and experience beyond a high school diploma or its equivalent and two (2) years of the required experience.

If a degree/diploma does not reflect the academic major on its face, transcripts must be submitted. All transcripts must include the following: student's name, school name, number of credits, degree completion, and major. Audit/academic reports are not accepted as substitutions for college transcripts.
To qualify under the equivalency clause, applicant must provide proof of education in one or more of the following applicable forms: copy of high school diploma, or its equivalent, or any accredited degree such as an associate's degree or higher.

* an accredited four-year college or university in the united states, or
* a current member of the national association of credential evaluation services (naces), or
* a current member of the association of international credential evaluators (aice), or
