At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We're working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

This role supports the development of ground infrastructure for New Glenn's second‑generation launch vehicle. As the manager of Ground Systems Fluids Engineering, you will lead a team of engineers responsible for designing, analyzing, and delivering the critical fluid systems that enable launch operations, spanning cryogenic propellant systems, high‑pressure pneumatics, deluge water, and environmental control systems.

We are seeking a technical leader who brings deep hands‑on fluids engineering expertise and the ability to develop people, drive engineering rigor, and deliver hardware in a fast‑paced launch environment. You will set the technical direction for your team, hold accountability for design quality and schedule, and play a key role in growing the fluids engineering capability for ground systems.

Responsibilities
  • Own the technical quality of fluid system designs across the team's portfolio, including storage, conveyance, and control.
  • Review and approve engineering artifacts: P&IDs, system schematics, 3D models, component specifications, analysis reports, and test procedures.
  • Drive rigorous analysis practices for fluid network modeling and thermal analysis and ensure results are used to make defensible design decisions.
  • Lead and participate in design reviews, Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), and formal risk evaluations.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and safety requirements (e.g., ASME B31.3, internal safety processes).
  • Provide technical mentorship and career development guidance; conduct regular performance reviews and growth conversations.
  • Foster a culture of engineering excellence, safety, and accountability aligned with Blue Origin's values.
  • Plan and manage team workload across multiple concurrent projects and design phases; drive accountability for team deliverables against program schedules.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or closely related discipline.
  • 10+ years of professional experience in fluid systems design and analysis, with a strong background in cryogenic or high‑pressure systems.
  • 3+ years of direct people management experience, including hiring, performance management, and team development.
  • Demonstrated ability to review and approve complex engineering deliverables: P&IDs, analysis reports, component specifications, and test documentation.
  • Experience leading or actively participating in design reviews, PHAs, and formal safety processes.
  • Familiarity with fluid network and thermal analysis tools (AFT Fathom/Arrow, Thermal Desktop, or equivalent).
  • Experience with 3D CAD and configuration management in a hardware delivery environment.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience in launch vehicle ground support systems or launch site infrastructure development.
  • Working knowledge of ASME B31.3 process piping code and experience applying it to design decisions.
  • Hands‑on experience commissioning or operating cryogenic ground systems in an operational launch or test environment.
  • Experience developing process hazard analyses and formal risk evaluation frameworks.
  • Knowledge of precision cleaning specifications, material compatibility, and passivation of stainless steel.
  • Knowledge of marine or coastal environment corrosion mitigation strategies…
