We are seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to lead the design and delivery of large-scale environmental restoration, flood risk protection and stormwater infrastructure projects.

This role requires deep technical expertise, complex problem‑solving skills, the ability to evaluate and design solutions to challenging problems or new requirements, strong project management capabilities, and the capacity to lead and coordinate multidisciplinary teams while serving as a trusted advisor to clients and stakeholders.

The ideal candidate has supported or led civil/site engineering aspects of a variety of projects, including Florida Everglades restoration projects, pump stations, drainage canals, reservoirs, stormwater treatment areas, stormwater storage facilities, and integrated water resource systems.

Main Responsibilities
  • Lead, coordinate and collaborate with multidisciplinary design teams
  • Lead the development of a design from project planning and research through the preparation of design reports and construction documents
  • Utilize advanced techniques for the analysis and design of specialized civil elements
  • Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, and permitting documentation
  • Drive project schedules, deadlines, and deliverables
  • Organize and lead project‑related meetings and presentations with internal team members or external consultants, owners/clients and vendors
  • Check work for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule
  • Participate in constructability review
  • Plan and execute QA/QC activities for individual projects
  • Review and develop design standards and specifications related to civil design
  • Create and sign off on designs and construction documents involving site layout development, site grading, drainage and stormwater treatment areas (including levees, canals, reservoirs, and impoundments), and stormwater management systems; demonstrate computer literacy in hydrology and hydrology calculations
  • Review draft designs for compliance with federal, state and local regulations; ensure firm policies and practices are followed; perform site reviews and studies as needed; update design requirements as necessary
  • Contribute to the firm’s Technical Knowledge Management by developing white papers and technical design documentation of new or special case designs, studies, etc.; submit technical papers for publishing to technical journals
  • Collaborate with sales staff to create proposals in response to current and potential client requests for proposal (RFPs); review draft proposals for adherence to firm, industry, state, local and federal regulations and best practices
  • Meet with current and potential future clients to review their design needs; attend conferences, symposia, etc. to improve the visibility of the firm’s products and services in collaboration with applicable sales staff
  • Provide technical guidance and training to more junior staff; mentor junior staff and develop them for future growth within the discipline and firm; may supervise the work of junior engineers on project work

    Eligibility and Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.

    Professional engineering (PE) license.

    7 years of related experience.

    Professional engineering (PE) license.

    Domestic and/or international travel may be required; frequency of travel depends on specific duties and project demands.

    Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

    Skills and Abilities

    Expert knowledge of engineering principles of design.

    Proficiency with civil engineering software, including hydrology/hydraulics design software, AutoCAD Civil 3D, BIM tools and design analysis programs.

    Expert knowledge with civil engineering codes, standards and regulatory compliance requirements.

    Expert knowledge of Microsoft business software (Excel, Word, etc.).

    Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

    Expert knowledge of federal, state and local regulations.
