Role Overview
The Development Scientist II is responsible for developing methods for production and testing of new products, new product designs, and production procedures and process specifications.
The position reports to the Senior Manager - Heme/UA Reagent R&D and is part of the R&D department located in Miami, FL and will be an on‑site role.
Responsibilities- Develop new product designs, production methods, testing procedures, new product scale‑up, process optimization, technology transfer and validation activities.
- Ensure testing and documentation support consumable claims for Hematology and Urinalysis instruments/consumables.
- Perform testing, analyze results and prepare reports in accordance with global and local quality procedures.
- Communicate issues and troubleshoot by collaborating with cross‑functional departments as needed.
- Participate in a multidisciplinary, innovative, and diverse team while adhering to all safety procedures and policies in the laboratory.
- Experience working in an FDA / ISO 13485 regulated environment.
- Working knowledge of basic statistical methods, including proficiency in the use of Excel and JMP for data analysis and presentation.
- Experience or knowledge in chemistry, microscopy, basic engineering, and manufacturing of reagents, as well as use of laboratory test equipment such as pH meter, osmometer, conductivity meter, spectrophotometer, and Beckman Coulter Particle Counter (preferred).
- Ability to lift 40 lbs. without assistance.
