Counter-Unmanned Aircraft System (C-UAS) Field Service/ Watch-stander (FSW)
EMD LLC is seeking an experienced Counter-Unmanned Aircraft System (C-UAS) Field Service/ Watch-stander (FSW) to join our team for a priority mission! In this role you will work both domestically and abroad to monitor and defend airspace for UAS threats, conduct real-time coordination with internal and external agencies, and provide both operational and technical support for the client's C-UAS program.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support C-UAS demonstrations, testing, evaluations, and training
- Building, flying, manipulating, testing, and repairing myriads of Unmanned Aircraft Vehicles (UAVs)
- Monitor multiple C-UAS capabilities ensuring real time airspace awareness in the assigned area of responsibility and report required UAS events in accordance with local Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
- Safely operate and articulate C-UAS mitigation options in accordance with local SOP.
- Conduct operational support, monitoring, and maintenance of C-UAS in a variety of locations / environmental conditions to support client C-UAS operational requirements.
- Perform technical inspections, system checks, fault diagnosis, identify the cause of failures, replace Least Replaceable Unit (LRU), test and restore C-UAS to full functionality.
- Conduct basic software maintenance of C-UAS (install/upgrade load sets, firmware, software upgrades, etc.).
- Conduct scheduled maintenance as described by the C-UAS program office and complete assigned work orders.
Travel:
This position requires travel OCONUS with potential travel to high threat posts.
Qualifications:
Skills and Qualifications:
- Associates degree in uncrewed system technologies and an Honorable Discharge from U.S. Armed Forces.
- Bachelor's degree in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, or uncrewed system technologies.
- Ability to define the various components of UAS
- Ability to define the different groups of UAS from Group 1-3
- Ability to describe operational characteristics of rotary and fixed wing UAS
- Academic UAS experience through accredited UAS programs.
- Candidate must hold a valid U.S. passport or can obtain a U.S. passport.
- Candidate must be able to obtain a class 1 DOS medical clearance.
- SECRET level Security Clearance required, or ability to obtain a secret.
- Experience flying Group 1-2 rotary and fixed wing UAS
- FAA Part 107 License
- Great written and verbal communication skills
Desired Skills:
- Ability to work alone or within a group.
- Basic mechanical understanding; experience working with tools.
- Experience with Radio Frequency (RF) transmit and receive technologies.
- Experience with UAS operation & capabilities; and command, control, and guidance systems desired.
- The position requires daily interface with customers at numerous levels. Candidates must possess and use a high degree of tact and interpersonal communication skills in daily interactions with team members, clients, vendors, and end-users.
Additional Requirements:
- Remote Pilot Certification (Part 107)
- Physical requirements can include walking, climbing, crawling through small spaces, and standing or sitting for long periods of time.
Security and Medical Clearance Requirements:
This position is contingent upon the successful completion of government-required medical screening, examinations, and testing. Due to the nature of the assignment, the U.S. Government requires comprehensive medical evaluations to determine an individual's fitness for overseas deployment.
The position is also contingent upon the ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance. A security clearance is not required to apply; however, the selected candidate must be able to obtain a Secret clearance which requires U.S. citizenship, prior to the start date.

- Required to talk and hear

- Requires minimal weight to be lifted (not more than 10 pounds) or force exerted on a regular basis.
- Required to communicate electronically
- Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl
Work Environment:
- Environment Conditions – While performing the duties of this job, the employee does not work in wet or humid conditions (non-weather), work near moving mechanical parts, work in high, precarious places, endure outdoor weather conditions.
- Noise Level – The noise level in the employee's work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
