Help
As a Radio Broadcast Technician, you will be responsible for duties to include, but are not limited to:
- Operates studio equipment including audio mixer, digital record, edit and playback systems using generally accepted broadcast standards and practices. Works under the direction of a producer for the during live programming but may serve as "line producer" for the playback of recorded material. While acting as "the producer" adheres to predetermined schedule making time adjustments are required.
- Monitors quality of out-going and in-coming audio material taking corrective action as necessary to assure compliance with established parameters and broadcast standards.
- Monitors and controls via remote control Marathon transmitters. Monitors satellite receivers and transmitters. Keeps written transmitter logs as required. Takes corrective action to assure transmitter is operating within established parameters.
- Establishes circuits from field and remote locations and co-ordinates with other technicians
- Uses knowledge of audio signal flow and routing and uses that knowledge and take the necessary steps to correct or work around system problems.
- Edits pre-recorded programs to incorporate music and effects utilizing studio audio consoles.
- Augments TV Marti Master Control and TV Marti audio operations as assigned.

- This position may require serving a one-year probationary period.
- The full performance grade level for this position is GS-12.
- This position may require working nights, weekends, and holidays.
- If you are a male applicant who is born after 12/31/59, you are required to be registered for the Selective Service.
Applicants must have a minimum of one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility comparable to the GS-12 or comparable pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector. Specialized Experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience that is typically in or related to live production studio operations andlive remote broadcast operations.
- Experience operating digital and analog broadcast and recording equipment systems.
- Experience with editing software and computer operations.
- Experience with various codecs and transmission devices.
- Experience with basic broadcasting theory and technical standards related to operation of broadcast systems and equipment.
- Experience monitoring and adjusting broadcast systems to meet accepted broadcast standards.
Education is not required for this grade level. It cannot be used for qualification purposes.
