The Aquatic Stage Staff (STAA) supports Entertainment Technical Operations in delivering high-quality entertainment experiences to guests. The STAA primarily assists the underwater and backstage operations of the Aqua Theater. Additionally, the STAA assists the Entertainment Technical Operations across multiple venues during rehearsals and performances. This position may support other members of the Entertainment Technical Team, Group Coordinator, and the Entertainment Division’s Management Team by assisting the live music and entertainment program around the ship within available working hours.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This is a shipboard position. All duties and responsibilities must be performed in accordance with all company policies, legal guidelines, and industry best practices in effect at the time of active employment.

1. The STAA reports to the Stage Production Manager.(s) when running a show or event in a venue and receives their daily schedules from the Head Stage Staff.

2. Applies diving certification to the safe operation of the live entertainment program in the Aqua Theater.

3. Performs show-related duties as instructed while prioritizing safety and upholding the artistic and technical integrity of all produced entertainment onboard. Prior to rehearsals or performances, the STAA:

  • Sets up the venue according to a technical rider or track sheet.
  • Assembles and inspects SCUBA gear, props, set pieces, and equipment.
  • Maintains cleanliness of the rehearsal or performance areas.
  • During rehearsals or performances, the STAA:
    • Follows the assigned and approved track sheet duties and listens for the show caller’s cues.
    • Monitors the stage or pool, calling accurate clears and assisting with the movement of props and set pieces.
    • Communicates effectively and professionally over the venue communication system and with approved underwater hand signals.
    • Performs other duties as instructed; tasks may include assisting with costume changes, band setups, or operating spotlights.
  • After rehearsals or performances, the STAA:
    • Inspects, cleans, and securely stores SCUBA gear, props, set pieces, and equipment.
    • Promptly communicates any concerns of damaged or malfunctioning equipment to the Aqua Cast Support Divers, Head Stage Staff, and Stage & Production Manager(s).
    • Ensures the cleanliness of the venue and backstage areas.

4. Proactively supports the live music and entertainment program around the ship by assisting with the handling of props, set pieces, instruments, and equipment for headliner acts, guest activities, parades, and band sets.

5. May be actively involved in the maintenance and repairs of all props, set pieces, and equipment used in the live entertainment program around the ship.

  • May work at height, on ladders, grids, aerial work platforms, and under hydraulic lifts upon certification.
  • Communicates any maintenance needs and purchase requirements with the venue managers or Aqua Cast Support Divers to ensure an ample supply of spare and operational SCUBA equipment.

6. May be called upon by the Stage & Production Managers to support Group Coordinators in setting up and striking identified equipment for special events and presentations.

7. Participates in all scheduled rehearsals, meetings, and trainings.

8. Accurately updates handover notes, track sheets, maintenance logs, and other operational documents or electronic assets stored within company approved databases.

9. Performs related duties as required by shipboard or shoreside leadership.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum Open Water PADI or equivalent by other accredited diving agencies like NAUI or SSI.
  • Diversified and documented diving experience or prior professional experience working underwater.
  • Works well with a team: collaborative, communicates promptly and accurately, adaptable, motivated to learn from peers and supervisors.
