We are seeking a seasoned Controller to oversee financial operations at our exclusive private membership club. This role ensures accurate reporting, compliance, and planning in a hospitality environment. Ideal candidates have private club or membership industry experience. Full-time, reporting to executives, with focus on efficiencies and member satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities- Manage day-to-day accounting functions, including general ledger entries, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations for club operations.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses to support decision-making by club management.
- Oversee financial controls, audits, and compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and industry-specific standards for hospitality and membership-based organizations.
- Handle membership billing, dues collections, and revenue tracking from club amenities (e.g., recreational facilities, dining, events).
- Collaborate with department heads (e.g., operations, food & beverage, facilities) to optimize costs, improve profitability, and enhance financial processes.
- Utilize club management software for integrated financial reporting, inventory control, and member data management.
- Assist in strategic initiatives such as capital budgeting, vendor negotiations, and financial planning for club expansions or events.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support member-focused services and long-term club sustainability.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in hospitality, private clubs, or membership organizations.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with club executives, staff, members, and external auditors.
- Knowledge of hospitality financial principles, including revenue recognition from events, memberships, and retail operations.
