Chief Financial Officer (CFO) — Law Firm The Opportunity
This isn’t a traditional CFO job.
This is a seat at the table— a firmwide operator embedded directly with leadership, owning the financial engine of a national, mid-sized law firm (~300 employees).
You’ll drive strategy, profitability, and partner economics in a rate-driven, metrics-heavy environment where precision matters and impact is immediate.
Already a CFO? You’ll have real influence here.
Not yet—but operating at that level? This is your step-up moment.
What You’ll Own- Firmwide financial strategy + long-range planning
- Profitability across insurance defense matters (where margins are won or lost)
- Direct partnership with attorneys on performance + compensation economics
- Full oversight of billing, collections, realization, and write-offs
- Cash flow, banking relationships, and financial infrastructure
- Multi-office / multi-state operational finance leadership
- Building and scaling a high-performance finance function
- True executive authority — not reporting from the sidelines
- Direct line to Managing Partners + firm leadership
- You’re influencing how the firm makes money — not just reporting on it
- High-stakes, data-driven environment where strong operators stand out fast
- Clear path to long-term executive impact and growth
You understand law firm economics at a granular level— not conceptually, but operationally.
- You’ve lived in utilization, realization, collections, and write-offs
- You know how rate structures impact margin
- You can walk into a room with partners and challenge, influence, and guide decisions
- You operate as a business partner, not just a finance leader
- Law firm finance experience — required
- Background in a traditional law firm environment
- Deep expertise in:
- Experience across multi-office / multi-state operations
- Miami-based or open to relocation (hybrid)
- CPA strongly preferred
- MBA or similar business background adds leverage
- Not Big 4 / consulting without internal ownership
- Not an accounting-only role
If you haven’t owned law firm financial performance, this won’t land.
Why This Role Stands Out- Rare chance to step into (or solidify) a true CFO seat
- Direct impact on profitability, partner comp, and firm strategy
- High-visibility role with real decision-making authority
- Built for someone who wants influence, not just responsibility
This is a high-stakes, high-impact CFO search targeting operators who understand how law firms actually generate profit—and know how to optimize it at scale.
If you’re ready to own the numbers, influence the partners, and drive the business
, this is that seat.
