A publicly traded financial institution in South Florida is seeking a high-potential Assistant Controller to join its accounting leadership team in a newly created growth-oriented role.
This position offers significant visibility to executive leadership and a clear path toward future promotion into the Controller position. The company is looking to strengthen and modernize its accounting organization as it continues enhancing its SOX 404 and public company infrastructure.
This is an ideal opportunity for a technically strong accounting professional coming out of public accounting, financial services, banking, or a combination of both environments who wants broader exposure, leadership responsibility, and long-term upward mobility.

Key Responsibilities- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
- Support SEC reporting including 10-Qs and 10-Ks
- Help strengthen and maintain SOX 404/internal controls environment
- Partner with external auditors and regulators
- Lead and mentor members of the accounting team
- Drive process improvements and operational efficiencies
- Assist with technical accounting and reporting matters
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Treasury, Risk, Operations, and Executive Leadership
- Help position the accounting organization for future growth and scalability
- 7+ years of accounting experience
- Public accounting background highly preferred
- Financial services or banking experience preferred, but not required
- Strong understanding of SEC reporting and SOX/internal controls
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Process improvement mindset with ability to operate in a hands‑on environment
- Experience in a public company environment is a plus
- Clear succession path to Controller
- High visibility role working directly with CFO and executive leadership
