The Consumer Lending Officer presents members and potential members with lending products and services to satisfy the member's financial needs. The Consumer Lending Officer will support members and potential members by opening new accounts, processing account transactions, and presenting information regarding lending products and services that meet the member's needs. The role's primary responsibility includes loan origination and processing duties, which entail that loans are processed accurately and fully and serviced to the member's satisfaction while maintaining compliance with all relevant regulations.
The Consumer Lending Officer is expected to build strong relationships with members, vendors, branch networks, and other internal partners while delivering exceptional customer service that aligns with the organization's standards. This role ensures that the Consumer Lending Officer can handle the full spectrum of consumer lending tasks, from initial consultation and loan origination to processing, funding, and compliance, all while maintaining a strong focus on member satisfaction and regulatory adherence.
Specific Information
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
- Assist members and potential members with their financial needs, providing personalized recommendations for products and services, including loans and credit options.
- Handle inbound and outbound consumer loan origination calls, ensuring a smooth, efficient, and timely loan application process.
- Employ consultative integrity sales techniques for the member's advantage during loan interviews to identify and cross-sell products and services that meet members' financial needs.
- Conduct daily follow-up calls and communicate loan decisions to members.
- Provide support via the appropriate electronic communications channels, including phone, fax, and email, to ensure superior member service and timely responses to inquiries.
- Prepare and process accurately and thoroughly all required loan documentation for approved consumer, credit card, and recreational loan applications, ensuring accuracy and compliance with credit union policies and procedures.
- Analyze credit reports, debt-to-income ratios, loan-to-value ratios, and other financial metrics to make informed lending decisions.
- Maintain a pipeline of active loan approvals and meet turnaround time standards for funding.
- Coordinate with members to obtain necessary documentation, prepare closing documents, and ensure all closed loans are accurately completed and signed as per TFCU Rules and Regulations.
- Clear loan conditions, post loans, and process credit card advances as required.
- Perform post-closing audits and maintain the application system with loan status updates.
- Meet or exceed monthly sales goals for products such as Credit Life, Disability, Guaranteed Asset Protection (GAP), Mechanical Breakdown (MBP), Mortgage, and Home Equity and referrals of any other relevant products and services.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act, Customer Identification Program, USA Patriot Act, OFAC, Fair Lending, and the Credit Card Act.
- Ensure compliance with all credit union policies and procedures, particularly those related to anti-money laundering and the Bank Secrecy Act.
- Complete required training courses, including BSA and OFAC, at least annually to ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Build positive relationships with vendors, internal partners, and team members in a collaborative environment.
- Serve as a mentor to newly hired employees, assisting with training needs and providing guidance as needed.
