Our firm is seeking a highly skilled Payroll Specialist with proven, comprehensive experience in end-to-end payroll processing. This is a critical role within our administrative team, requiring a professional who can manage the entire payroll lifecycle from initial data entry and time collection to final tax filing and year-end reconciliation.
Located in our Blue Lagoon office, you will be the sole custodian of the payroll function, ensuring that our attorneys and support staff are compensated accurately within a complex, multi-tiered legal environment.
Key Responsibilities:End-to-End Ownership
- Complete Lifecycle Management: Take full ownership of the bi-weekly payroll cycle for all exempt and non-exempt staff, ensuring zero errors from data entry to disbursement.
- Time & Attendance: Audit and reconcile timekeeping records, specifically managing the intersection of billable hours and non-exempt overtime calculations.
- Complex Deductions: Manage all elective and non-elective deductions, including health benefits, 401(k) contributions, and garnishments.
- Tax Administration: Execute all federal, state, and local tax deposits and filings; handle the preparation and distribution of annual W-2s and 1099s.
- General Ledger Integration: Reconcile payroll totals to the General Ledger and collaborate with the accounting department to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Year-End Reconciliation: Lead the year-end closing process, including bonus calculations and reporting compliance.
- End-to-End Expertise:
Minimum of 3–5 years of experience managing the full payroll cycle. You must be comfortable handling every stage of the process independently. - Legal Industry Background: Prior experience in a law firm or professional services firm is highly preferred, particularly regarding partner distributions and tiered bonus structures.
- Technical Mastery: Advanced proficiency in payroll platforms (ADP, Paychex, or UKG) and Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas and data validation).
- Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of FLSA regulations, tax withholding laws, and multi-state compliance (if applicable).
- Confidentiality: Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive financial data with the highest level of integrity.
- Base Salary: $55,000 – $65,000 (Based on experience).
