Spot Pet Insurance is seeking a Director of Finance who, in partnership with the Vice President of Finance, will lead the finance function for our growing organization. This role serves as a strategic partner to the General Manager of Spot and leads the financial planning and analysis function, including financial planning, oversight, analysis, reporting, and stakeholder communication. The Director of Finance will play a critical role in enabling cross-functional execution of business objectives.
This position is expected to drive organizational value by ensuring that all elements of finance operate according to best practices, governance standards, policy requirements, and the company’s strategic vision, with a strong emphasis on integrity and transparency. The role will also lead process enhancements and establish a disciplined, well-managed operating cadence throughout the fiscal year.
The Director of Finance reports to the SVP of Finance at IPH
. Responsibilities span finance leadership, process and policy stewardship, internal and external communication, and the delivery of accurate, reliable data and reporting to senior leadership. The role also represents Spot in engagements with key stakeholders. Success in this position requires strong leadership capabilities, deep finance expertise, advanced analytical skills, a strategic mindset, and the ability to deliver timely, effective results in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead the annual planning and recurring reforecasting processes; actively partner with key stakeholders across Spot and IPH to ensure financial plans are accurate, actionable, and aligned with business goals
- Deliver high-quality financial management reporting for monthly, quarterly, and annual operating results, business reviews, board presentations, and ad hoc analyses as needed
- Collaborate closely with the accounting team, maintaining a deep understanding of Spot’s financial statements, tax and treasury practices, and audit outcomes
- Develop strong subject‑matter expertise in the underlying business, technology environment, controls, and governance supporting accounting, planning, and reporting processes
- Ensure robust documentation of policies, procedures, and workflows
- Drive continuous improvement by leveraging technology to redesign processes and improve efficiency and effectiveness
- Provide financial frameworks to evaluate growth opportunities, geographic expansion, and new revenue streams through modeling and scenario analysis
- Design and maintain financial models for forecasting, allocation, partnership evaluation, and investment decision support
- Collaborate effectively with sister portfolio companies as needed
- Partner closely with the parent company’s finance and accounting teams
- Lead, develop, and mentor team members while fostering professional growth
- Perform additional duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field
- 8+ years of corporate accounting and/or finance experience, including deep expertise in financial planning and analysis, financial modeling, budgeting, long‑range planning, multi‑cycle forecasting, unit economics, and LTV/CAC analysis
