POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Controller leads core accounting operations, financial reporting integrity, and planning support within a manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for the financial close, cost accounting, treasury, and accounts receivable oversight, while also leading budgeting and forecasting processes and supporting the preparation and submission of reports to Corporate.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES General Accounting & Financial Close- Lead and manage the month-end close process, including close checklist execution and timeline adherence.
- Prepare and/or review journal entries with supporting documentation and control evidence.
- Ensure accuracy of balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow reporting.
- Perform and review flux analysis (MTD/YTD) with clear variance explanations.
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls and compliance with US GAAP.
- Lead preparation and submission of MMR, MOR, CER, and other corporate reporting packages.
- Support on deliverables to Corporate Finance for recurring and ad hoc requests.
- Ensure consistency, accuracy, and timeliness of all corporate deliverables.
- Provide clear narratives and analytics to support reported results.
- Co-lead development of annual budget and rolling forecast models.
- Own financial modeling assumptions and ensure alignment with business drivers.
- Perform variance analysis (actual vs. budget/forecast) and communicate insights.
- Partner with operational leaders to align forecasts with execution plans.
- Oversee standard cost structure, updates, and variance analysis.
- Ensure accurate inventory valuation and reconciliation.
- Analyze manufacturing cost drivers and recommend improvements.
- Support physical inventory processes and cycle count programs.
- Develop and maintain accrual methodologies for complex estimates.
- Lead warranty reserve sufficiency analysis and supporting documentation.
- Ensure proper accounting treatment of reserves and contingencies.
- Improve accuracy, consistency, and audit readiness of estimates.
- Oversee cash accounting, bank reconciliations, and cash positioning.
- Ensure proper recording of cash transactions, wires, and funding activities.
- Support cash flow visibility and liquidity management.
- Maintain strong controls over treasury processes.
- Oversee AR operations, including billing, collections, and cash application.
- Monitor aging and drive timely resolution of past due balances.
- Lead customer credit assessments, including credit limits and risk analysis.
- Partner with commercial teams to balance growth and risk management.
- Provide day-to-day financial support to operations, engineering, and sales.
- Translate financial data into actionable insights for decision-making.
- Serve as a key finance partner across the organization.
- Lead initiatives to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency.
- Drive automation within ERP (IFS) and reporting tools.
- Enhance data integrity, reporting capabilities, and scalability.
- Promote a continuous improvement mindset across the team.
- Strong knowledge of cost accounting, inventory control, and GAAP.
- Experience with automation and BI tools (Power BI or similar).
- Advanced proficiency in ERP systems (IFS preferred) and Excel.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling.
- Deep understanding of manufacturing and inventory accounting.
- Ability to translate complex data into actionable insights while supporting cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
- Interact effectively with team members at all organizational levels.
- Able to maintain an appropriate level of confidentiality.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA required.
- 8 years of accounting experience, including 2+ years of leadership experience.
- Experience in manufacturing required.
- Public company and/or public accounting experience.
- Prior experience with corporate reporting and FP&A processes.
- Demonstrated success in process improvement and team leadership.
- Sedentary work:
This role may require exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Most essential functions are performed while sitting but walking and standing are occasionally required. - Visual acuity is required for the preparing, analyzing, and reviewing of data.
