Orchid Insurance, an Arrowhead Intermediaries company, is seeking an Underwriting Assistant to join our team in Miami, FL.
Contribute to the growth of the business by supporting the Miami Treaty Reinsurance team through a range of pre-underwriting risk activities and processing various components of the operation of new and renewal business that allows Underwriters to focus on marketing and underwriting. Develop skills and knowledge relating to business and underwriting practices. Engage with clients as needed and deliver excellent service.
How You Will Contribute:
Underwriting:
* Support Treaty underwriters and coordinate the full process from entering an offer until a business is bound. Input new and renewal business in Chaucer's Risk Management (Charisma) system (Creation of Day Book entries)
* Process signed slips and endorsements, including sanctions screening, net premium calculations, conditions and clauses required by UW guidelines. Set up and maintains electronic policy files in Charisma.
* Review documents are processed accurately by third party administrator.
* Collaborate with underwriters and assists with reports or miscellaneous activities upon request (i.e., signature of letters, documentation to brokers, etc.). Assist brokers and ceding companies with queries. Produce regular reports of renewals, risk exposure, among others.
* Perform pre-underwriting tasks utilizing a pricing/modelling tool that includes preparing pricing for underwriters with information sent by brokers (Slip, Schedule of Values, and Survey Reports).
* Support the treaty reinsurance pricing process and submit information for modelling to CAT modelers.
* Complete the rating sheet for all bound accounts with final terms within the requested time frame.
Operational:
* Interact with Third Party Administrator (TPA) for incoming wire transfers and payment notifications. Monitors that wire transfers and payments are allocated correctly by TPA.
* Perform technical accounting functions. Assist with the cash matching discrepancies, identification of accounts, balance reconciliations with brokers and return premium process.
* Perform credit control functions including collection, warranties extensions, notice of cancellations based on premium payment clauses and aged debt report analysis.
* Liaise with Third Party Administrator and brokers regarding new loss advice, claims reports, developments and payments (indemnity and adjuster expenses).
