Financial Analyst – Tech Finance Capital Projects
Full‑time position reporting to the Manager, Tech Finance Capital Projects, located on‑site in Miramar, FL.
Job Summary:
The Financial / Data Analyst partners with IT Senior Financial Analysts, IT operational staff, and Technology Procurement to forecast, plan, report, and account for financial activities, leveraging data analysis to improve visibility, decision‑making, and process efficiency.
- Review and approve spend requisition requests (capital projects and operating expense). Confirm funding, compare to forecasts/budgets, and determine capitalization versus expensing. Work with IT Senior Financial Analysts, spend owners, and Procurement.
- Prepare monthly forecasts of assigned projects and provide variance explanations.
- Collect quarterly financial documents from operating teams and consolidate reports for Fixed Assets.
- Update spend curves monthly with PMs to ensure accurate forecast of spend.
- Monitor assigned project expenses and communicate potential issues to project owners.
- Assist with ad‑hoc financial analyses: identify spending trends, forecast risks, timing differences, opportunities to improve forecast accuracy and management visibility.
- Develop and maintain recurring reports, dashboards, and visualizations for capital project tracking, variance analysis, and executive reporting.
- Support process improvement and automation initiatives by standardizing data sources, streamlining recurring analyses, and reducing manual reporting through advanced Excel, reporting tools, or other approved analytics solutions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or related field.
- 1–2 years of related work experience in a medium to large–sized company.
- Experience applying finance and accounting principles.
- IT Finance or technology‑related experience highly preferred.
- Knowledge of Sarbanes‑Oxley controls and testing.
- Experience with JD Edwards/Oracle and Tungsten financial applications highly preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal & written communication skills.
- Fluent in English.
- Strong spreadsheet, analytical, and problem‑solving skills; ability to interpret large data sets and translate findings into actionable insights.
- Experienced in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint; proficiency in reporting and visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar.
- Experience using data analysis, reporting automation, or query tools (Power Query, SQL, Python, etc.) to improve efficiency and support decision‑making.
- Detail oriented, able to work under tight timelines, prioritize assignments, work independently, and type proficiently.
