Head of Trading​/Investments

Seeking a Head of Institutional Trading / Investment Counsellor for our Broker Dealer client, - this role will lead the firm’s institutional trading platform while serving as a senior advisor to institutional and high-net-worth clients. This role is responsible for overseeing execution across asset classes, driving revenue through primary and secondary market opportunities, and managing a small team of traders.

• Oversee trading activity across fixed income, equities, ETFs, and derivatives, ensuring best execution and adherence to regulatory standards
• Act as a senior execution trader across fixed income, equity, and futures for internal affiliates and private banking clients
• Manage the full trade lifecycle, including execution, allocation, settlement coordination, and documentation review
• Monitor market conditions and liquidity to optimize execution strategies and pricing outcomes
• Participate in daily market and research calls, remaining current on macroeconomic trends and financial markets
• Identify and onboard new real money and mid-tier institutional accounts to drive incremental revenue growth
• Contribute directly to revenue generation across both primary and secondary markets
• Provide portfolio guidance and market insight to institutional and high-net-worth clients
• Advise clients on fixed income strategies, asset allocation, and relative value opportunities
• Translate market developments into actionable investment ideas tailored to client objectives
• Support client communications with timely updates, trade ideas, and execution feedback
• Lead, mentor, and develop a small team of traders, fostering a high-performance and collaborative culture
• Establish trading protocols, execution standards, and performance expectations
• Oversee daily workflow, trade allocation, and risk controls across the desk
• Ensure adherence to SEC, FINRA, and internal compliance policies across all trading activities
• Monitor trading risk, position limits, and exposure across asset classes
• Maintain accurate records and support regulatory reporting and audits

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or related field
• 10+ years of experience in institutional trading, sales trading, or capital markets within a broker-dealer or investment bank
• Strong experience in fixed income markets required; multi-asset experience preferred
• Proven track record of developing institutional relationships and driving revenue growth
• Experience managing or mentoring a trading team
• Deep understanding of market structure, execution strategies, and trade lifecycle processes
• Strong market intuition and execution discipline
• Relationship-driven with commercial acumen
• Leadership presence with the ability to manage and scale a team
• High attention to detail and operational awareness
• Ability to perform in a fast-paced, high-pressure trading environment
• Biligual Spanish and English and / or Portuguese
