Junior Loan Officer

About this positionAre you an outgoing people‑person who thrives in a fast‑paced environment? Our lending team seeks a junior loan officer to help applicants navigate the home loan process. We provide training, technology, and team support to help you succeed.
Compensation: $60,000 - $75,000 yearly
Responsibilities- Meet sales expectations, generate new business, get referrals, and monitor the sales pipeline.
- Communicate with the senior mortgage loan officer/MLO to recommend the best mortgage loan products based on the applicant’s financial status.
- Assemble financial information to assist with loan applications, prepare loan files, and assess applicants’ financial situation and eligibility.
- Collaborate with the mortgage lender or mortgage banker, underwriter, loan processor, senior MLO/mortgage loan originator, and realtors to ensure the loan transaction succeeds.
- Educate loan applicants about residential mortgage loans, answer questions, and provide additional information to build personal relationships.
- Client Engagement: Conduct interviews with clients to understand their financial situation, needs, and loan preferences.
- Presentation & Consultation: Prepare and deliver clear loan presentations that outline terms, conditions, and potential pricing scenarios.
- Pricing: Accurately price loan products and explain rates, fees, and options to clients.
- Pipeline Management: Act as the point of contact for clients throughout the loan process, coordinating with processing and underwriting teams to ensure timely progression.
- Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, aiming for high satisfaction and potential referrals.
- Review all loan package documentation for discrepancies, omissions, and income calculation, then report any discrepancies to the loan originator.
- Follow up and respond to customer and in‑house inquiries on transactions, providing superior customer service.
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred; a high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Exceptional communication, sales, relationship, and MS Office skills are necessary.
- Intention to complete a training program to obtain NMLS/MLO/state license.
- Past experience with credit unions, lending institutions, real estate, financial services, or related fields is a bonus.
- Understanding of loan program guidelines and various loan types such as FHA, VA, and commercial loans is helpful.
- Advanced comprehension of loan financing options such as Non‑QM, foreign nationals, conventional, FHA, VA, and Home Equity Loans.
- Computer proficiency, including MS Office; experience with CRM, MLS, DU, and proprietary mortgage software is preferred.
- Ability to work effectively in a strong team‑oriented environment and provide outstanding communication and customer service to clients.
- 3–5 years of professional office‑environment experience as a loan officer assistant or mortgage assistant is preferred.
- Understanding of state and federal legislation, as well as underwriting rules and processes.
