Job description:

Retail Banker I is a customer liaison integral to delivering TD’s brand promise by utilizing financial expertise and consultative advice to assist customers with their banking solutions and needs.

Responsibilities
  • Provide financial expertise and consultative advice to customers, delivering the brand promise.
  • Identify and recommend appropriate TD solutions to help customers achieve their financial goals and optimize their relationship with the bank.
  • Use product knowledge to educate customers on bank products and services, and refer them to appropriate team members or internal partners when needed.
  • Establish and nurture customer relationships by actively listening to needs, engaging in additional conversation, and offering solutions or partner referrals.
  • Make product recommendations based on customer needs, highlighting benefits that support customers during challenging times and life events.
  • Utilize the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system to conduct customer assessments, identify solutions, and lead outbound sales activities.
  • Independently resolve customer issues, errors, and problems, escalating when necessary.
  • Build working relationships with customers and explain detailed or complicated information.
  • Engage in customer outreach, servicing, and advisory activities, delivering an unexpectedly human experience.
  • Converse with customers about loan products and facilitate the application intake process.
  • Maintain an active registration status with the NMLS (Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry).
  • Perform teller transactions, including check cashing, deposits, transfers, withdrawals, and fraud mitigation, in accordance with operational policies.
  • Act as a brand champion both internally and externally, promoting the bank’s values and culture.
  • Educate customers on self‑service options, including digital channels, and encourage use of these options to meet their needs.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • At least 1 year of experience working with customers and/or in a sales capacity, or equivalent experience through volunteering, education, or military service.
  • Teller experience preferred.
  • Ability to complete teller training upon hire to handle customer transactions.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage in customer conversations while educating them on products and services.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of being concise, clear, and consistent.
  • Ability to schedule and prioritize work effectively.
  • Capability to work independently and meet deadlines, demonstrating sound judgment and effective problem‑solving.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Notary License (Preferred).
Regulatory Requirements
  • Must be eligible for employment at a covered financial institution under the standards established by RegulationZ of the Truth in Lending Act.
  • Must be eligible for registration as a registered mortgage loan originator with the NMLS in accordance with the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008.
  • Must pass a satisfactory criminal background check and credit report check, and provide statements or certification regarding any administrative, civil, or criminal findings.
