Private Equity Principal - Lower Middle Market Buyout
A lower middle market private equity firm based in Miami, founded by an investor with nearly a decade of experience at a top PE firm before launching this platform. The firm has invested over $125 million across three platforms, completing more than two dozen acquisitions with two successful exits and returns exceeding 3x invested capital. The firm targets founder-owned businesses in essential services sectors including business services, value-added distribution, and specialty manufacturing across the Sun Belt, creating value through acquisitions, integration, infrastructure professionalization (sales, systems, technology, and reporting), and management team strengthening.
Aboutthe Role
This Principal role sits on the deal team, working directly with firm leadership to source, execute, and manage the firm's investments. This is a hands-on, high-ownership seat: you will own transactions end to end, from origination through close, and stay closely engaged with portfolio companies and investors after the deal is done.
Highlights- A true Principal seat with real ownership of deals and outcomes; not a cog in a large platform
- Direct, daily partnership with firm leadership as the platform scales past its independent-sponsor track record
- Genuine, performance-based growth path, with carry as a primary long-term economic driver
- Entrepreneurial, no-ego, collaborative culture where your voice shapes the firm
- Buy-and-build strategy in resilient, essential-service sectors across the Sun Belt
A genuine, performance-based path for the right person to grow into a larger role as the firm's first institutional fund closes and the platform scales.
Key Responsibilities- Deal Execution:
Own deal execution end-to-end on platform and add-on processes: modeling, diligence management, IC memo, and closing - Source new opportunities through proprietary channels
- Prepare and refine LP-facing materials, including the fund deck, deal briefs, DDQs, and quarterly updates
- Prepare, update, and manage portfolio company reporting, KPI dashboards, and board prep alongside management teams and firm leadership
- 10+ years of total experience minimum, including 2+ years in investment banking
- 8+ years in private equity, with a lower middle market or services focus strongly preferred
- Real deal reps: has closed transactions, managed diligence work streams, and sat across from management teams
- Strong financial modeler who builds from scratch rather than just reviewing, and can seamlessly handle complex financial situations
- Comfortable in a flat, lean structure with limited process infrastructure
- High ownership mentality: not looking for a team around them to do the work
- Willing and able to be on-site in Miami, FL
Compensation: $225-275k cash compensation (base + bonus) plus generous equity and $150k per closed platform bonuses
