TLS Advisors LLC, the General Partner and Manager for multiple hedge funds in Miami, is looking for a Staff Accountant. We are a small group with a high level of complexities; thus you will find this job rewards you for being successful at a full range of duties. You should have a strong core in accounting with knowledge in taxes, business management, banking, investing, estate planning, or real estate.
You may not have experience in all of these but should have a desire to learn about them all. Thus, the three critical qualities for the job are intelligence, trustworthiness, and flexibility.
This position puts you right next to the principals in an idiosyncratic hedge fund/family office, which has been successful for forty years. We consider ourselves cutting-edge in many areas, from quantitative trading to off-the-beaten-path philanthropy and are an informal, but professional firm.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:- Getting familiar with the numerous entities of the business and the family office, the principals, the controls, the checks and balances, and the protocols for compliance as regulated entities
- Compiling and reviewing data for CPA and tax preparation
- Monitoring invoices, bill pay, and reviewing contracts
- Occasional start-up of new entities
- Corporate governance in the form of minutes, annual registrations, and record keeping
This is a role where job requirements are constantly evolving with the focus of the Funds or the family, but in all cases, it involves being thoughtful about efficiency of the principals. The staff accountant will work directly with the hedge fund while working together with other associates, in the family office.
Requirements:- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, economics, math, or similar
- Detail oriented with a desire to put extraordinary effort to error-free reports
- Proficient with Microsoft Office tools, Quicken or Quick Books, with an understanding of bank and brokerage statements
- Investment experience isn’t required but being eager to learn quickly is required
- Able to multi-task and think clear and fast under pressure
- Annual salary range $75,000-$90,000 completely depending on candidate’s accounting experience
- Discretionary annual bonus and longevity bonus
- Matching 401(k) program, health and dental insurance
Within our group is a proprietary trading entity, NASDAQ market maker, and member of FINRA. We currently manage both an open and a closed hedge fund and we invest in many different asset classes around the world. We have an interest in value investing and behavioral economics, but we also apply quantitative research methodology along with historic economic research to our investment decisions.
Our small team consists of traders, financial and quantitative analysts, developers, and operations personnel, and our owners collectively have nearly a century of trading experience. We look forward to having you join our team.
We strongly believe in teamwork and collaboration in-person for our business. Training will begin in the office full-time and depending on progress, can eventually move to a hybrid setting of two days remote and three days in the office each week.
