A financial services organization is seeking an experienced AML Advisory Team Lead to support the Anti-Money Laundering and Financial Crime Compliance program for its broker-dealer business.

This is a senior, hands-on advisory role responsible for providing AML guidance to front-office and operational teams, reviewing complex and high-risk client matters, and serving as an escalation point for CIP, KYC, CDD, EDD, sanctions, and transaction monitoring issues. The position will work closely with AML leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure the AML program remains effective and aligned with applicable regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and senior point of escalation for AML matters within the broker-dealer business.
  • Provide day-to-day AML advisory support to front-office, onboarding, operations, treasury, and other business teams.
  • Advise on CIP, KYC, CDD, EDD, BSA/AML, OFAC/Sanctions, FinCEN, and applicable FINRA/SEC requirements.
  • Review and provide guidance on complex or high-risk customer onboarding and KYC cases.
  • Analyze Enhanced Due Diligence escalations involving complex account structures, transactions, and customer risk.
  • Evaluate AML-related escalations from front-office teams, onboarding, operations, treasury, and transaction monitoring.
  • Provide practical risk-based recommendations and determine when matters require escalation to AML leadership.
  • Serve as an ongoing point of contact for onboarding teams regarding CIP/KYC/CDD and EDD requirements.
  • Provide guidance regarding AML matters involving high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of AML requirements applicable to broker-dealer clearing, correspondent clearing, and wealth management activities.
  • Assist with the development and enhancement of AML policies, procedures, controls, and processes.
  • Support independent AML audits and regulatory examinations by compiling documentation and responding to information requests.
  • Provide training and guidance to business teams regarding CIP, KYC, CDD, EDD, and AML escalation procedures.
  • Collaborate with other AML, Compliance, Operations, and business stakeholders on projects designed to strengthen the overall AML program.
  • Ensure assigned reviews and escalations are completed accurately and within established timelines.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of direct AML experience within financial services, with experience in AML Advisory, KYC/CDD, Enhanced Due Diligence, or financial crime investigations.
  • Broker-dealer or Wealth Management AML experience required.
  • Experience with correspondent clearing, including direct and indirect clearing relationships, strongly required.
  • Strong knowledge of BSA/AML, USA PATRIOT Act, OFAC/Sanctions, FinCEN, FINRA, and SEC requirements.
  • Experience advising front-office and business teams on complex AML and customer-risk matters.
  • Experience evaluating complex customer structures, high-risk relationships, and transactional activity.
  • Experience working with HNW and UHNW customers and the AML risks associated with sophisticated financial relationships.
  • Strong understanding of CIP, KYC, CDD, EDD, transaction monitoring, and sanctions requirements.
  • Ability to independently assess AML risk, exercise sound judgment, and provide practical recommendations to business stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly explain complex AML requirements.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across Compliance, Operations, onboarding, and front-office functions.
  • CAMS certification preferred; ability to obtain CAMS within 12 months of hire may be required.
