Position: Environmental Resource Project Supervisor (Department Environmental Resources)
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, Geology, Hydrology, Environmental Science or related field. Two years of professional experience in environmental restoration or two years of professional administrative experience involving environmental policies or issues to include grants administration, report development, project management, procedure development, education or enforcement are required. Must possess a Driver license.

Recruitment Notes

This advanced professional, supervisory position assists in designing, coordinating, and implementing complex environmental resource management projects. These projects relate to scientific investigations into potential sources of pollution affecting the County's surface water and groundwater resources. This position also assists section and division leadership and other positions in assessing existing environmental conditions and identifying emerging threats to the County's natural resources.

Incumbents in this position supervise technical field activities and staff, including contractors, and administer grants and review proposals and scopes of work. Responsibilities entail developing, implementing, and improving resource monitoring programs. Other responsibilities include interpreting, analyzing, and presenting data, as well as providing written reports and verbal presentations. This role is also responsible for overseeing contractual agreements, developing educational and training programs, drafting ordinances and regulations, and reviewing existing policies.

Incumbents exercise considerable independent judgment in managing programmatic and fiscal aspects of environmental resource projects and programs and serve as a primary responder to environmental emergencies, as needed. This position coordinates with stakeholder groups including local, state, and federal agency partners as well as academia and non-governmental organizations on water resource-related initiatives. Moreover, this role supports restoration initiatives, and specifically Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP) activities, as well as the development and subsequent implementation of the Reasonable Assurance Plan (RAP).
