The Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) is the agency charged with licensing and regulating State of Florida businesses and professionals, such as cosmetologists, veterinarians, condominiums, hotels, and restaurants. Our mission is to license efficiently and regulate fairly, and we strive to meet this goal in our day-to-day operations.

The work you will do:

This position is based in the Doral office of the Division of Florida Condominiums, Timeshares, and Mobile Homes and reports to the Bureau Chief of Public Engagement. The incumbent is responsible for overseeing the Consumer Advocate sections.

Your Specific Responsibilities:

The incumbent in this position is responsible for all tasks related to the supervision and management of their assigned employees.

  • Supervises employees by assigning work, reviewing progress, and assessing performance. Performs all required administrative tasks, supervision, and program control of employees within the Division of Condominiums, Timeshares, and Mobile Homes. This includes approving attendance and leave, writing and updating position descriptions, conducting recruitment and selection activities, and other supervisory-related duties.
  • Plans, organizes, and delegates work assignments, continuously evaluating their effectiveness to enhance service delivery to the public. Develops workloads, workflows, deadlines, work objectives, and time utilization strategies with Regulatory Specialists. Reviews and assigns inquiry cases and coordinates all inquiry activities within the assigned area.
  • Coordinates with the Bureau Chief of Public Engagement and other supervisors to ensure the public engagement section is up to date with current policies and procedures.
  • Ensures that Regulatory Specialists direct constituents to the appropriate resources and promptly report any allegations of criminal activity to the criminal referral unit.
  • The incumbent in this position performs responsible managerial work by directing the activities of a regional office. Pursuant to F.S. 110.205(2)(W), this position spends 50% or more of its time communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating employees. This position plans and directs employees' work and has the authority to recommend hiring, firing, and other personnel actions.
  • Performs other related work as required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply statutes and administrative rules to specific factual scenarios.
  • Ability to collect, evaluate, and analyze information; identify violations of statutes and rules; and determine elements of alleged violations.
  • Ability to present information effectively in public forums.
  • Proficiency in using computers, including Windows-based software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle safely in various driving environments
  • Two (2) years of supervisory experience.
  • Two (2) years of investigation, regulatory, or relevant experience.
Preferred:
  • A bachelor’s or associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field; at least two (2) years of investigative or regulatory experience; and two (2) years of supervisory experience.
