Ophthalmic Technician Tier 2

Overview

General

Summary:

Responsible for daily patient care flow. Performs a number of data collection functions as delegated by the physician and/or Clinic Manager to allow for proper professional diagnosis, treatment and care of patient's condition(s).

• Acquaint all new patients with office procedures to which they will be exposed
• Obtain patient history to include chief complaint, history of present illness, medical history (ocular and general), family history (ocular and general), and history of allergies and medications
• Performs accurate and consistent documentation and measurement tasks for new and follow up patients:
  Vision acuity, lensometry, entrance tests, contact and non-contact tonometry, refraction, slit lamp exam, angle assessment, dilation
• Maintains and cleans all equipment being used
• Maintains patient confidentiality
• Attends required meetings
• Availability to travel to Dade and Broward offices when necessary

• Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Technician (COT) preferred
• Minimum 2 years of experience as an ophthalmic technician or surgical assistant
• Strong knowledge of ophthalmic instruments, procedures, and terminology
• Familiarity with EMR systems (experience with Next Gen is a plus)
• Excellent organizational skills and diligence
• Ability to travel daily
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Full work up and clinical assistant tasks or scribing or basic testing tasks
