Job Description:
- The Phlebotomist II serves as a primary point of contact for patients and is responsible for collecting quality blood specimens and preparing them for laboratory testing while following established procedures.
- This role requires direct patient interaction, a high level of professionalism, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to confidentiality, accuracy, and patient comfort.
- The Phlebotomist II may be assigned to a patient service center, physician office, or other locations based on business needs.
- Ability to provide accurate and error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong decision-making skills based on established procedures.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
- Reliable transportation and flexibility to work across multiple locations, if required.
- Strong customer focus and professional communication skills.
- Commitment to safety, confidentiality, and established policies and procedures.
- 1 3 years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
- Experience in a patient service center environment is preferred.
- Customer service experience in a retail or service setting is preferred.
- Keyboard and data entry experience.
- Perform daily phlebotomy and specimen processing activities accurately and on time.
- Collect clinical and forensic specimens following established practices and procedures.
- Verify patient identity and labeling of specimens in the presence of the patient.
- Maintain accurate records and required documentation.
- Create a safe, professional, and welcoming environment for patients.
- Explain procedures clearly to patients and address questions or concerns.
- Promote a positive and professional image to patients, clients, and coworkers.
- Support operational needs including flexible scheduling, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
- Travel to multiple work locations when needed with minimal notice.
- Ability to adapt quickly to change and evolving operational needs.
- Strong interpersonal skills and teamwork orientation.
- Experience working in high-volume healthcare environments.
- Venipuncture and capillary blood collection.
- Patient interaction and customer service.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Time management and organization.
- Basic computer and data entry skills.
- Professional communication and teamwork.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred.
