Environmental Equipment Operator performs manual work involving more difficult housekeeping tasks on an assigned shift in the hospital. Employees in this classification perform heavy manual work involving a variety of housekeeping tasks.

• Follow floor care cleaning procedure for automatic scrubber to remove dirt accumulated on floor.
• Follow cleaning procedure for maintenance of all automated equipment.
• Once the floor is cleaned, follow floor care procedure for the ultra-burnished to polish the floor.
• Operate the equipment in a safe way to prevent accidents.
• Detect malfunctions while operating the equipment and report problem to supervisor.
• Properly assemble pads and brushes to obtain maximum machinery efficiency.
• Determine proper pad pressure adjustment for more efficient cleaning and polishing.
• Perform complete range of hard surface floor care including dusting, sweeping, damp mopping, and burnishing/buffing.
• Perform complete range of carpet care including vacuuming, spot cleaning, and bonneting.
• Cleans, disinfects and arranges furniture and fixtures as required.
• Spot cleans and damp wipes walls, windowsills, and overhead lights as required.
• Perform other related environmental duties as required, including cleaning of all patient units.
• Demonstrate behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Expertise). Perform all other related job duties as assigned.

Generally requires 0 to 3 years of related experience.

High School diploma is strongly preferred.

Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work accurately while meeting multiple deadlines. Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form. Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with critical thinking and professional composure. Ability to understand and follow instructions. Ability to exercise sound and independent judgment. Knowledge and skill in use of job appropriate technology and software applications.

Valid license or certification is required as needed, based on the job or specialty.
