Research Assistant - Miami
The Research Assistant supports ophthalmic clinical research by performing high-quality OCT imaging, preparing participants for imaging procedures, and ensuring that all data collected meets study and sponsor quality standards. This role works closely with investigators and clinical research staff to maintain accurate documentation, uphold regulatory compliance, and contribute to the smooth and efficient conduct of clinical studies.
Responsibilities
+ Perform high-quality Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) imaging in strict accordance with study-specific protocols.
+ Prepare participants for ophthalmic imaging procedures, explaining processes clearly and ensuring their comfort.
+ Verify that all imaging meets sponsor and study quality standards before participants leave the clinic.
+ Upload, label, organize, and maintain imaging files in compliance with study requirements and timelines.
+ Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot ophthalmic imaging equipment to ensure optimal performance and image quality.
+ Assist investigators and clinical research staff during participant visits, including supporting imaging-related procedures and workflow.
+ Accurately document all procedures performed and maintain complete, legible, and timely source documentation.
+ Ensure full compliance with protocol requirements, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), HIPAA, and other applicable regulatory standards.
+ Communicate effectively with Clinical Research Coordinators regarding participant flow, scheduling, and visit status.
+ Participate in sponsor and study-related training to stay current with protocol updates, imaging standards, and regulatory expectations.

+ Strong attention to detail with a focus on image quality and protocol adherence.
+ Excellent interpersonal and patient communication skills, with the ability to explain procedures clearly and calmly.
+ Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple tasks.
+ Proficiency in performing Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) imaging.
+ Ability to accurately document procedures and maintain organized, compliant records.
+ Familiarity with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and HIPAA requirements or willingness to learn and apply these standards.
Additional
Skills & Qualifications
+ High school diploma or equivalent.
+ At least 1 year of experience as an Ophthalmic Technician, Ophthalmic Assistant, or Ophthalmic Photographer.
+ Previous experience performing Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) in a clinical or research setting.
+ Previous experience in clinical research is preferred.
+ Comfort with basic data entry and electronic documentation systems.
+ Ability to collaborate effectively with investigators, clinical research staff, and coordinators.
Work Environment
This position is based in an office and clinical research environment focused on ophthalmology. You will work with ophthalmic imaging equipment, including OCT devices, and use computer systems for data entry, image upload, and documentation. The role involves direct interaction with study participants and collaboration with clinical research staff in a professional, detail-oriented setting. Standard office and clinic attire is expected, appropriate for a patient-facing clinical research environment.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Doral, FL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
