Job Overview

Interview and assist uninsured/under‑insured patients at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital in Miami, FL, to determine eligibility for Medicaid or other financial assistance programs. This role supports accurate application submission, timely billing, and ongoing communication with patients and partners. The position offers a pay range of $18.65 – $20.50 per hour, bonus incentives, certifications, tuition reimbursement, comprehensive benefits, and career advancement opportunities.

Responsibilities
  • Interview patients to assess eligibility for Medicaid or other financial assistance programs.
  • Assist patients with application processes, ensuring accurate and complete submissions.
  • Follow up on submitted applications to guarantee timely billing or adjustment processing.
  • Collect necessary documents from patients and update insurance information as required.
  • Document all actions and communications in the patient accounting system.
  • Maintain current knowledge of state and federal program requirements and share information with colleagues.
  • Build and maintain proactive relationships with Medicaid caseworkers and other revenue‑cycle partners.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • 1–2 years of experience in the healthcare industry working with patients on hospital financial matters.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English.
  • Understanding of revenue‑cycle processes, including admissions, billing, payments, and denials.
  • Knowledge of the patient insurance process, authorizations, and benefit verification.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, CPT or procedure codes, and managed‑care/insurance processes.
  • Experience in patient access or call‑center environments preferred.
  • Inquisitive mindset with openness to innovation, including AI solutions.
  • High school diploma or GED required; post‑secondary education considered.
  • CRCR certification within 9 months of hire.
