Surgical Tech

JOB SUMMARY

Seeking a skilled Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) for a travel assignment to provide exceptional patient care in a dynamic surgical environment.

• Prepare and maintain the sterile operating room environment for cardiovascular surgical procedures.
• Assist the surgical team by anticipating needs and providing instruments, supplies, and equipment.
• Perform surgical technologist duties during procedures including CABGs, AVR, MVR, Thoracotomy, ECMO, Pacemakers, Trach, and MAZE.
• Ensure all counts (sponges, sharps, instruments) are correct before, during, and after surgical procedures.
• Maintain, clean, and organize surgical instrumentation and equipment.
• Adhere to strict aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
• Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurses, and other members of the surgical team.
• Document relevant patient information as required.

• Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM.
• On-call rotation: 2 weekends per month and 2 weekdays per week (Wednesdays and Thursdays). On-call coverage will include Kendall and Mercy facilities.

• The unit has 1 bed and typically involves 3 staff members.
• Staff includes OR RN and OR ST (CVOR).

• Patient Ratios: 1:1.

• Must possess a Surgical Technologist certification.
• Must have current BLS and NIH certifications.

• Demonstrated experience in a Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) setting.
• Experience with procedures such as CABGs, AVR, MVR, Thoracotomy, ECMO, Pacemakers, Trachs, and MAZE.
• Experience with Meditech documentation system.

• Proficient in sterile technique and aseptic practice.
• Excellent knowledge of surgical instruments and equipment specific to CVOR procedures.
• Ability to anticipate the needs of the surgical team.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Adaptability to a fast-paced surgical environment.
• Ability to function well independently.

• Adult cardiovascular surgical patients.

• May be required to travel and provide coverage at other facilities, including Mercy, Kendall, and Aventura, at times.
• Must be available for scheduled on-call duties as outlined in the schedule.
