- The Senior Director of Infection Prevention for the strategic, operational, human resource, quality and financial management and oversight of the Infection Prevention across Jackson Health System, including inpatient, ambulatory services, nursing homes and corrections health.
- This includes making strategic decisions to: align the defined service with the needs and resource supports of the targeted patient population; meet professional and regulatory standards/benchmarks for infection control quality; achieve infection prevention and employee health fiscal goals; and maintain staff performance at targeted levels.
- The incumbent translates system and pavilion strategic plans and policies into an Infection Prevention Plan suitable to the unique operational needs of Jackson Health System.
- The incumbent leads implementation and evaluation of the Infection Prevention plan and provides reports relevant to achievement of strategic goals. The incumbent has authority to make decisions for the Infection Prevention and represent the system on interdisciplinary teams and interactions with other professionals and departments in making policy decisions and in creating conditions conducive to meeting system goals.
- The incumbent is responsible for creating and maintaining an environment that cultivates exemplary patient care. The incumbents works in partnership with nursing leadership, Physician partners, and other key stakeholders to define and clarify the strategic direction and operational plan for the infection prevention and employee health department.
- As a member of the quality leadership team, this incumbent establishes a setting that supports professional practice and empowers staff to provide safe, effective, patient centered, timely and efficient care in collaboration with all health care disciplines.
- The incumbent facilitates continuous quality improvement through the development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of departmental plans, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures. The incumbent ensures compliance with standards established by professional organizations, national, state and local regulatory agencies, and institutional policies and procedures.
- The incumbent is accountable for practice that upholds high standards of integrity and ethical behavior. The incumbent mentors others, role models professionalism, and participation in activities such as nursing organizations, nursing research, the community, and bodies that shape health care policies and practices.
- Assures the Infection Prevention and Employee Health plans are consistent with district and pavilion plans and support attainment of district and pavilion goals.
- Acts on legislation, national policies, and guidance and assess their impact.
- Acts as advocate for patients, staff, and families by directing the implementation of effective plans, policies, procedures, mission, and vision within the Infection Prevention Program.
- Monitors and audits progress and revises plan as needed.
- Provides regular written reports to document status.
- Participates in strategic planning and special projects for the system, hospital, or nursing service, as assigned.
