JOB SUMMARY

Assists the Registered Occupational Therapist with client‑related activities and performs delegated procedures following education and training. Treats clients with disability, injury and disease using cold, heat, massage, ultrasound, exercise, radiant energy, hydrotherapy and electricity as assigned in accordance with the physician's orders.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Graduate of an approved school OT program.
  • Currently licensed in the State of Florida as an Occupational Therapist or Occupational Therapist Assistant.
  • At least one year of hospital experience under the supervision of a Licensed Occupational Therapist.
  • JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

    Duties of the Occupational Therapy Assistant include, but are not limited to:

    • Functions as a participating team member who contributes to total client care under the direction and supervision of a Registered Physical Therapist.
    • Performs routine treatment, care, services and procedures in accordance with the Plan of Care and in the manner delegated and supervised by the therapist.
    • Observes, records, and reports to the supervisor conditions, reactions, and responses related to assigned duties.
    • Observes and reports to the Registered Occupational Therapist changes in the client's condition and level of function, results of testing, and responses to the therapeutic program.
    • Maintains clinical records, clinical notes and progress reports on each client in accordance with the Agency's documentation requirements.
    • Participates in educating the patient, family and in-service programs.
    • Respects patient rights and cultural beliefs.
    • Maintains strict confidentiality of all patient/Agency information.
    • Adheres to all Agency Policies and Procedures including HIPAA and in‑service programs provided by the agency.
