Program Manager Recreation Activities

Job Summary

Ensures a full range of recreational activities are available for tenants of ICT/HCT. Develops, coordinates, implements, and evaluates the delivery of services for the purposes of maintaining and/or improving the physical, cognitive, and psychosocial activities of each tenant.

Essential Job Functions
  • Plans, schedules, and supervises all activities and events on campus.
  • Plans, schedules, and arranges supervision for off campus activities and events.
  • Supervises the Coordinator-Recreational Activities, Assistants, contracted instructors and chaperones, provides training, and coaches staff.
  • Writes and produces newsletters for ICT/HCT per established deadlines.
  • Reconciles billings and invoices for the department per established department policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates the participation of other departments involved in recreational activities.
  • Conducts and activity orientation interview with tenants within 30 days of admission.
Education

Job Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience
  • Three years of related experience
Licenses/Certifications
  • CTRS (Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist), ADC (Activities Director Certification) or equivalent preferred
  • CPR Certification preferred
Abilities Required
  • Ability to work with the geriatric population and with memory impaired individuals
  • Sensitivity to the needs of the elderly.
  • Good interaction with peers, subordinates, residents, guests, and volunteers
  • Displays strong resident advocate skills
  • Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills necessary
  • Knowledge of computer programs
  • Leadership abilities
Functional Demands Environment Work Conditions
  • Normal working condition with adequate lighting and ventilation
Infectious Material Exposure
  • No routine exposure to blood/body fluids/tissues, but may occasionally require performing unplanned activities which may involve exposure to blood/body fluids/tissues

  • Ensures that resident’s/patient’s rights are adhered to
  • Demonstrates professionalism and accountability
  • Demonstrates a caring attitude consistent with Miami Jewish EmpathicareSM toward MJH residents, patients, family members, employees, and other facility guests

  • Ensures confidentiality and security of patients’ medical information
  • Identifies and utilizes appropriate channels of communication
  • Able to speak, read and write English
  • Able to think and act calmly to meet unusual occurrences of the job

  • Participates in departmental activities, meetings and in-services and follows established guidelines
  • Maintains a safe working environment
