Job Shift: Day

Responsibilities
  • Provide one-on-one peer support to clients, drawing from personal experience to build trust and rapport.
  • Staff available community spaces/living rooms to increase engagement to address barriers to care.
  • Share insights on navigating recovery, coping with challenges, and building resilience.
  • Serve as a positive role model, demonstrating healthy coping skills and self-advocacy.
  • Help clients identify and access community resources upon discharge.
  • Support clients in navigating the continuum of care and advocating for their needs during treatment.
  • Assist clients in developing personal recovery goals and action plans to support their wellness journey.
  • Collaborate with clients to identify strengths, overcome barriers, and celebrate progress.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of client interactions, progress notes, and activities.
  • Ensure documentation meets organizational and regulatory standards, while respecting client confidentiality.
  • Submit regular reports on client progress, engagement, and outcomes to supervisors and program stakeholders.
  • Miscellaneous Duties as directed.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or equivalent; certification as a Peer Specialist (CPS). Lived experience with mental health and/or substance use recovery and a demonstrated ability to manage personal wellness.

Qualification Requirements
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to relate to and inspire clients on their recovery journey.
  • Active listening, empathy, and a non-judgmental approach to supporting others.
  • Basic understanding of mental health and substance use resources, as well as community services.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to document interactions and progress.
