Work Shift:

Full-Time: 40 hrs. per week;
Days, Nights. Flexible Shift, On-calls and weekends may be required.

UTower CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
  • 1. Coordinates scheduling and patient flow for interdepartmental procedures.
  • 2. Performs diagnostic imaging studies under the direction/supervision of a radiologist.
  • 3. Assists with the education and training of new physicians.
  • 4. Assists radiologists and PhD's in developing new protocols and Ultrasound imaging techniques that are unique to facility. Assists in research initiatives and development of research protocols.
  • 5. Monitors charging of Ultrasound procedures and supplies daily to ensure correctness.
  • 6. Demonstrates Ultrasound equipment for 'site visits' for visiting physicians and administrators.
  • 7. Ensures that orders are appropriate to the type of exam recommended by physician. Notifies supervisor of any discrepancies and/or contacts physician's office for correct orders if necessary.
  • 8. Verifies the patient's  checking their name and date of birth on electronic medical record and patient's wristband. Always obtains necessary consents and education.
  • 9. Performs specialized tasks associated with the operation of MRI scanners and related equipment in accordance with prescribed safety procedures under the direction/supervision of a Radiologist using age appropriate standards of practice.
  • 10. Integrates diagnostic, laboratory results, patient history and medical records and adapt exam as necessary. Adheres to MRI protocols to maintain high quality standards. Adheres to any regulatory body guidelines governing modality including but not limited to:
    Joint Commission, AHCA, ACR, FL DOH and FDA/MQSA.
  • 11. Assists positioning patients in required anatomical position for display of body for MRI scans using immobilization and protective equipment as necessary.
  • 12. Maintains proper aseptic technique utilizing universal precaution guidelines (hand washing, gloves, gown, mask, eye protection and equipment disinfection).
  • 13. Assists radiologist with imaging procedures, starting IV's, and injecting contrast, if applicable.
  • 14. Evaluates MRI scans for technical quality, collate processed images in sequence of exposure and appropriately label. Film/transmit to PACS.
  • 15. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

    CORE QUALIFICATIONS

    Education:

    High School Diploma or equivalent/relevant experience, certification or license

    Experience:

    Minimum 3 years of relevant experience required

    Certification and Licensing:

    Valid State of Florida General Radiographer license required

    Refer to department description for applicable certification requirements
