Role Description

The Optical Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Miami, FL. This position is responsible for assisting with patient eyewear selection, lens measurements, and frame adjustments to ensure proper fit and visual comfort. Day-to-day tasks include performing basic optical and laboratory procedures such as lens edging, mounting, repairs, and quality checks. The Optical Technician also supports the clinical team by maintaining equipment, organizing optical inventory, and preparing materials for patient visits.

Regular interaction with patients is expected, including answering questions about lenses and coatings, providing product education, and delivering a courteous, efficient experience at each visit.

Qualifications
  • Strong interpersonal skills and communication abilities to support positive patient interactions and effective collaboration with the care team.
  • Knowledge of optics and experience with optical instruments or eyewear fitting; familiarity with optical fiber concepts is beneficial for advanced applications.
  • Laboratory skills related to lens preparation, edging, mounting, repairs, and general equipment handling.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in measurements, documentation, and quality control of eyewear.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment, manage multiple tasks, and follow safety and compliance procedures.
  • Prior experience as an optical technician or in an eye care setting is preferred; relevant certifications or training in optics or ophthalmic technology are a plus.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical or vocational education in optics or healthcare is advantageous.
