The Quality Assurance Manager oversees food safety, sanitation, quality standards, and regulatory compliance for dining operations at the University of Miami Health System. This position works closely with culinary, patient dining, clinical nutrition, and operational teams to ensure safe, consistent, high-quality service.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain food safety, sanitation, and quality assurance programs
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of kitchens, storage areas, patient dining, and retail food service operations
- Ensure compliance with HACCP, local health department, hospital, and company standards
- Identify compliance concerns and develop corrective action plans
- Monitor food temperatures, labeling, storage, allergen controls, and sanitation practices
- Maintain accurate inspection, training, and compliance records
- Support regulatory and internal audits
- Train and coach team members on food safety, sanitation, and quality standards
- Investigate food safety or quality concerns and ensure timely follow-up
- Partner with culinary, operations, and clinical nutrition leaders to improve processes
- Promote a strong culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) preferred, but not required
- Bachelor’s degree in nutrition, dietetics, food science, hospitality, healthcare administration, or a related field preferred
- Experience in quality assurance, food safety, sanitation, healthcare dining, or high-volume food service
- Knowledge of HACCP, food safety regulations, allergen controls, and sanitation standards
- Healthcare or hospital food service experience is a plus
- Strong communication, training, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively with clinical, culinary, and operational teams
- Serv Safe or HACCP certification preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic reporting systems
