We are seeking a Pharmacy Technician to join our team at Independent Living Systems (ILS). About the Role:The Pharmacy Technician plays a critical role in supporting pharmacists to ensure the safe and efficient dispensing of medications in both hospital and retail pharmacy settings. This position involves accurately processing prescription orders, managing inventory, and maintaining sterile environments to uphold patient safety and regulatory compliance. The Pharmacy Technician acts as a liaison between patients, pharmacists, and healthcare providers, facilitating clear communication and timely service.
Attention to detail and reliability are paramount, as the role directly impacts patient health outcomes and satisfaction. Ultimately, the Pharmacy Technician contributes to the smooth operation of the pharmacy by combining technical skills with a respectful and professional demeanor.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) from an accredited program or state certification where required.
- Basic knowledge of pharmaceutical terminology and medication dispensing processes.
- Demonstrated ability to operate fax machines and pharmacy software systems.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining sterility and safety standards.
- Bachelors degree in business, healthcare administration or related field.
- Experience working in hospital or retail pharmacy environments.
- Familiarity with order entry systems and electronic health records (EHR).
- Additional training or certification in sterile compounding or medication safety.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team.
- Proven reliability and a track record of respectful interactions with patients and colleagues.
- Accurately enter prescription orders into the pharmacy system and verify patient information.
- Fill and label prescriptions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, ensuring correct medication and dosage.
- Operate and maintain fax machines and other communication tools to coordinate with healthcare providers and insurance companies.
- Perform sterilization procedures and maintain sterility standards in medication preparation areas.
- Manage inventory by receiving, storing, and organizing pharmaceutical supplies and medications.
- Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and compliant work environment adhering to hospital and retail pharmacy protocols.
- Provide courteous and respectful service to patients and healthcare professionals, addressing inquiries and concerns as appropriate.
