The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Physical Therapy has an exciting opportunity for a full time Occupational Therapist III
- Specialist to work full time in Miami, FL. The Occupational Therapist III provides effective and efficient rehabilitation, in accordance with the AOTA guidelines for occupational therapy, and participates in the development of services and programs provided by the University of Miami Health System. The Occupational Therapist III also studies, evaluates, and records patients' activities and progress.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Demonstrates and articulates sound clinical reasoning in synthesizing complex evaluation data, identifying diagnosis, and developing a comprehensive care plan.
  • Develops and updates an appropriate care plan with measurable goals in collaboration with the patient and their family and based on the person's age and lifestyle.
  • Selects and administers assessment and treatment techniques and performs age-appropriate competency skills evaluations.
  • Follows intervention protocols and revises interventions appropriately.
  • Discharges patient when goals have been met or medical necessity is no longer indicated.
  • Initiates patient and family education relative to age, readiness to learn, and emotional status.
  • Utilizes appropriate methods and materials for effective learning, monitoring response to education, adapting program appropriately.
  • Ensures that patient and family understand when and how to access further intervention.
  • Performs data collection for the department accurately and within the expected time frame.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

    CORE QUALIFICATIONS
    • Education:

      Highest entry level of education
      - Doctoral degree in occupational therapy
    • Certification and Licensing:
      Licensure in occupational therapy
    • Experience:

      10 years of relevant experience
    • Board Certification through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialists (ABPTS), AOTA, or specialty certification through an approved program
    • Track record of presenting educational material – 5 internal presentations to a physical therapy or rehabilitation department
    • Classroom support activity or student instruction, community outreach, research project participation, leadership service or program development
    • Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:
      Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
    • Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
    • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and according to HIPPA requirements.
    • Ability to work evenings, nights, weekends and holidays as necessary.
    • Commitment to the University's core values.
    • Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.
    Department Specific Qualifications
    • Education:

      Master's or Doctoral degree in occupational therapy
    • Certification and Licensing:
      Licensure in Occupational therapy
    • Experience:

      7 years of relevant experience
    • Certification as a Clinical Instructor (CI) 640 hours of Occupational Therapy student instruction as a CI
    • Approved minimum 100 hour - curriculum of courses to advance specified clinical expertise
    • Productivity attainment Fulfillment of 5 professional development / engagement activities from the Clinical ladder
